terms and conditions
Payment Due.
You pay, I bake! A 50% non-refundable retainer is required up front so that I can source all materials needed for your order. Your payment reserves your pick-up date too! Win-win for all of us!
This can be paid via the Square invoice I send which accepts all major credit cards, Apple Pay, and Google Pay. I also accept Venmo, but I do not accept checks.
Product Photography.
Say Cheese! I photograph all my pretty sweet lookin’ sweets to share on my social media platforms. If for some reason you do not want your items in the spotlight, please let me know at the time you place your order. Your secrets are safe with me!
Achoo! Got Allergies?
My baked goods are made in a home kitchen that is not subject to Missouri’s food safety regulations, however, I am food handler certified and take cleanliness & food safety very seriously. Please make me aware of any allergens at the time of your order! All bakery items contain flour, dairy, and eggs and are prepared in my at-home kitchen where they could potentially come in contact with other known allergens. Sweets by Lynsey is not liable for any allergic reactions. You assume responsibility to notify your event guests of any allergens.
No Show = No Desserts.
Reach out if you are running late or need to change your pickup time. If your pickup time has passed by 30 minutes, I will reach out once. I will reach out a second time at the end of the day of pickup. I will reach out a third and final time 24 hours after your passed pickup time. Failure to respond or reach out to me after 48 hours from your original scheduled pick-up time results in your order being forfeited. No refund or credit will be issued.
Change Cutoff.
Decisions are tough, I get it! Order changes can be made until one week before your scheduled pickup. After that, all change requests will be under consideration and a small fee may apply.
Price Adjustments.
All prices are subject to change. Prices are often dictated by ingredients costs. I'm always trying to provide the best tasting desserts! This also means I can't honor old pricing (because the local grocery store won't honor their old flour prices - darn it).
Copycats.
Copyrighted images (think Star Wars and Peppa Pig) are protected, and I won't be able to replicate them as baked goods. I can make other design options and a similar color palette though - so let's talk!
Eenie Meenie Order Minimums.
I know, I know- that didn't rhyme! What can I say, I'm a baker not a poet!
I require a minimum order for cookies and cupcakes. Need fewer? Stay tuned to my Facebook page for same day pickup sales!
In A Hurry?
While I can't accommodate all last minute orders, I will make my best effort to! Orders placed with a turnaround time of under 7 days from pickup may require an additional rush fee.
It's All Yours Now.
Once you pickup your order (thanks again, by the way), what happens to your cookies, cake, cupcakes, and car doors (I hate door dings) is all on you!
Keep 'em safe, keep 'em cool, and keep 'em away from the parking lot cart returns.
Rain Rain, Go Away!
If pickup is impossible due to inclement weather, your order will be held for a later pickup date. No refunds will be offered due to weather (darn rain), but I will make sure your order is kept as fresh as possible!
Cottage Food Laws.
All items are made by a cottage food business that is not subject to Missouri's food safety regulations.
Boring disclaimer, but we have to say it per the law. *tips cowboy hat* *straightens Sheriff pin*
dessert Care:
Once your items leave my care, I am no longer responsible for any damages that occur either during transport or in your home/event area. If you have specific questions about the care of your dessert, please ask.
Your cake will be given to you straight from the fridge. Please allow at least 30-45 minutes before the time of your event for the cake to thaw.
Place both hands under the board of your cake to distribute the weight evenly when carrying. The cake boards can flex and bend if not fully supported, causing the cake to torque and leaving cracks in buttercream.
Be careful to not squeeze the sides of the cake box into your cake’s pretty buttercream sides!
Place desserts in the flattest part of your vehicle: floorboard or SUV flat bed space is best. Your seats are not a good location. Most have some slope to them and make it that much more easier to have a dessert crisis. Be sure items are not stacked around your dessert that can fall or slide into your box.
Go DIRECTLY to your dessert's final destination. Warm buttercream can slide down the sides of your cake/cupcakes. Reduce the risk by going straight home with your items.
Be sure your dessert is not near a floorboard heater or in direct sunlight. Cakes need to stay below 72 degrees to avoid melting. 65 degrees is even better. Never leave them in an un-air-conditioned car. Direct sun through glass is also bad!
Fluorescent lights and daylight can fade the color of your decorations, especially items colored in pinks and purples. The fading doesn't happen over a matter of days...it can happen in just a few hours.
